Raises $4,750 for Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support

Blasingame, Burch, Garrard, & Ashley, P.C. (BBGA) held its 15th Annual Pig Pickin’ in September at The Farm at High Shoals. The event was created to bring the Athens community together to socialize, but also to raise funds for a local organization. This year, the firm raised $4,750 at the event and BBGA attorneys presented the check to the Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support on Friday, Nov. 16.

More than 400 attorneys, clients, and friends and family of BBGA attended the Pig Pickin’ for a bar-b-que dinner prepared by BBGA shareholders. Along with the bar-b-que was picnic fare such as Brunswick stew, coleslaw, and sweet tea. Attendees could also stroll the farm’s 400-acre property and were treated to live music and games for the children.

A raffle drawing was held with all funds raised going to the Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support. The winner of the raffle received two nights at The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee; two rounds of golf; and spending money.

The Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support at Piedmont Athens Regional offers cancer patients and their families’ free guidance, education, and emotional support during their journey with cancer. The Center provides workshops, seminars, individual and group counseling, support groups, art and writing therapies, and exercise classes.
