Richard W. Schmidt
At Blasingame, Burch, Garrard & Ashley, P.C., Attorney Richard W. Schmidt practices in the Lake Oconee office. He is a skilled and experienced real estate and business lawyer. Richard focuses his practice on all aspects of commercial and residential real estate development, banking and secured lending, construction, property tax appeals, zoning, local government law and general business.
When it comes to handling complex legal matters, Richard understands that people often seek the assistance of an attorney when they need help with issues beyond their expertise. At the same time, these people still want to understand the process and feel informed about their situation. With this in mind, Richard strives to provide open, honest communication in plain English in a way that anyone can understand. With every case, Richard listens to understand, and works toward practical, real-life solutions for his clients.
Richard grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota. He attended the University of Georgia where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science in 1985 before going on to earn his J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1988.
When he is not working, Richard enjoys giving back to his community. Currently, he serves on the Greene County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, as well as the Lake Oconee Academy Charter School Board of Governors. Along with his wife Jodie, Richard has five children. In his free time, he enjoys outdoor activities including fishing, backpacking, long-distance bicycling, and arts, including photography, water and oil painting, and furniture building/woodworking.
