Shareholders with Athens law firm Blasingame, Burch, Garrard, & Ashley, P.C. (BBGA) smoked 50 turkeys and delivered them, along with various other canned goods, to those in need.

This is the sixth year BBGA has coordinated the annual firm-wide effort to

purchase, prepare, and deliver the turkeys and other non-perishable foods to people across multiple regional counties. In that span of time, BBGA has delivered some 325 turkeys to various local charities and organizations.

“I’m a strong believer in giving back to the community and this is just one way BBGA enjoys doing that each year,” Firm Senior Partner Henry Garrard, III said. “This annual project is truly a collaboration amongst the attorneys, employees, and their families, and I’m proud of the hard work and generous spirit of everyone involved.”

Patrick H. GarrardThe project took weeks of planning and coordinating. Then, clad in blue jeans, heavy coats, boots, and gloves, Garrard, along with several firm partners and other employees, spent Dec. 21-22 prepping, cooking, packaging, and delivering the turkeys and other trimmings to multiple local charities, including The Salvation Army and Project Safe in Athens, Peace Place in Barrow County, and Circle of Love Center and Atlas Ministry in Greene County. BBGA also donated canned goods and other non-perishables to the Athens Area Homeless Shelter and Cornerstone Food Pantry.

“This project is a lot of hard work, but it’s really rewarding,” said Firm Partner Patrick Garrard, who has spearheaded the project since inception. “It’s a great, hands-on effort that all of our folks get behind. And you know your hard work has an immediate impact. Hopefully, through this endeavor, we brought a few smiles to people’s faces this holiday season.”
